Welcome 2019!!!

I can’t believe that it’s January 2019! 2018 flew by and I know for me personally it was a pretty good year. I got a new job, I launched my blog, I traveled, and I took some necessary time to deal with some long-overdue emotional baggage. In 2018, I did cut some people out my life and I’m better for it.

I started creating themes for my year and last year’s theme was Make the Jump. One of the ways in which I did that was by launching my blog. It’s incredibly personal to share your thoughts with the world, but I knew that if I didn’t do it I would regret it.

This year’s theme is Step Out of Your Comfort Zone.I came up with this theme while reflecting on my recent trip to Bali (post coming soon). We climbed up a volcano and went to the Bali Swing. Two things that are completely out my comfort zone, but that I enjoyed immensely. In many ways, I am very risk averse. I enjoy knowing what’s happening next, and I enjoy keeping my feet on solid ground. But growth isn’t achieved inside of our comfort zones. Growth is uncomfortable that’s why they call it growing pains.

I also set resolutions every year. I enjoy the idea of reinvention in the new year and use my resolutions as a map to how I should plan my year. I have several resolutions this year but I will give you my top 3.

  1. I want to continue working on my blog and be consistent:I do work on my blog, but it’s very haphazard. For me to see the growth I want I must put in the work. This means creating a more organized way of creating content, and scheduling time to work on it.
  2. I want to start dating again:I have taken most this year off from dating (I briefly flirted with a couple dating apps), but for 2018 it’s been just me. I’ve enjoyed my time to myself ,but marriage and a family are goals of mine and for that to happen I have to put myself back out there.
  3. Go back to school:I would like to go back to school to get my Masters in Human Rights. I have wanted to go back to school for a while and couldn’t figure out what I wanted to study. I toyed with the idea of journalism, public health, and psychology. But human rights are something that I am deeply passionate about, and look forward to diving deeper with a graduate degree.

I share these resolutions with you to inspire your own goals for the new year and to keep me accountable. I will follow up half-way in the year to let you know how I am doing with these three resolutions and how I am stepping out of my comfort zone every day. Comment with your theme and resolutions for the new year!

I wish everyone an amazing 2019!!
